Privacy Policy

Effective August 17, 2026

Ladder Breakers applies to jobs on your behalf, which means we handle your career data with particular care. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you keep over it. It works together with our Terms of Service, AI & Automation Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, and Data Processing Addendum.

1. Data we collect

Account data: your email address, name, and sign-in activity.

Career data you provide: your resume, work history, skills, target roles, locations, salary preferences, work-authorization status, and reusable application answers.

Optional self-identification data: some employer application forms request equal-opportunity information such as gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, date of birth, or age range. Every one of these fields is optional, you choose whether to store any of them, and you can change or clear them at any time from Settings.

We use self-identification data for one purpose: filling the voluntary equal-opportunity section of applications you have authorized. It is never used to match, score, rank, filter, or prioritize roles for you, never used to decide whether an application is submitted, and never used to train models or to target advertising. Job matching runs on your target roles, role families, seniority, locations, work modes, salary floor, and work-authorization status, and on your resume and the job posting — not on these fields.

Application activity: job matches, saved jobs, queued applications, drafts, generated materials, submission status, employer responses we can detect, and support messages related to your account.

Billing data: your plan and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

Usage data: pages visited, features used, and technical logs that help us keep the service reliable and secure.

2. How we use your data

To run your job search: matching roles to your preferences, generating tailored resumes and cover letters, filling application forms, and submitting applications you have authorized.

To operate the service: authentication, billing, support, abuse prevention, and product improvement.

We use AI models to generate and tailor application materials from the content you provide. Third-party AI providers may process your content only to provide services to us, and your data is not used to train third-party foundation models.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. When we share data

With employers and their hiring platforms (for example Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby) when an application is prepared or submitted on your behalf — that is the point of the service, and it only happens for roles covered by the application mode you chose.

Employer applications may include personal data and, if you choose to provide it, sensitive application information such as work authorization, sponsorship needs, veteran status, disability status, race or ethnicity, gender or gender identity, or other employer-requested responses. Self-identification answers are sent only to the employer or hiring platform receiving that application, and only into the fields that form asks for.

With service providers that host our infrastructure, deliver email, process payments, provide AI features, monitor reliability, prevent abuse, or support users, bound by confidentiality obligations.

When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of Ladder Breakers and its users.

4. Verification emails and application tracking

If Ladder Breakers supports email aliases, forwarding, one-time passcode, or application-tracking workflows for your account, we process those messages only to support authorized applications, application tracking, spam prevention, security, reliability, and support.

You can pause automation or contact support if a verification workflow is not working as expected.

5. Restricted data

Do not upload payment-card numbers, bank account details, government ID numbers, health records, biometric data, or other highly sensitive information unless an employer application form explicitly requests it and you choose to provide it for that application.

Application data is generally transmitted to employer platforms as provided or approved by you. We do not promise to redact or mask fields before submission.

6. Subprocessors and international processing

We use service providers for hosting, storage, AI processing, email, authentication, payments, analytics, diagnostics, security, and support. Provider categories are described on our Subprocessors page, and data-processing commitments for business, vendor, or privacy-review workflows are described in our Data Processing Addendum.

Depending on the provider and feature, personal data may be processed in the United States or other regions where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal transfer mechanisms.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account from Settings, your workspace data — saved jobs, resumes, cover letters, answers, and preferences — is permanently removed from our production systems, and residual copies age out of backups on a fixed schedule.

Self-identification answers are stored with your preferences and follow the same deletion path. You can also clear them individually at any time without deleting the account, and once cleared they are no longer sent on any later application.

We may retain limited billing, security, audit, anti-abuse, legal, and support records where needed for compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, accounting, or service protection.

Applications already submitted to employers live in those employers’ systems and are subject to their policies; we cannot recall them.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted and audited, and sign-in uses one-time email codes or Google OAuth rather than stored passwords.

9. Your rights

You can access and edit your profile, resume, answers, and preferences directly in the product, export your generated materials, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection) — contact us and we will honor them.

California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, limit certain sensitive-data uses, opt out of sale or sharing, and be free from discrimination for exercising privacy rights. We do not sell personal data and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

UK, EEA, and similar-region users may have rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, and complaint to a data-protection authority.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your workspace state. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

11. Children

Ladder Breakers is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the product before they take effect.
